Why Health Reform Needs Change, And What Parts Of It Need Changing

Democrats and Republicans both agreed that the health care system needed to be overhauled when Obama tried to pass his unpopular package through the United States House of Representatives. The disagreements came over how to do it. Republicans wanted tort reform and savings accounts, Democrats wanted a single payer system. Neither side wanted what did get passed, which has caused much confusion and caused an already weak economy to go further into chaos. Health care reform must be eliminated preferably or changed so it does what the designers actually intended it to do.

Why Heath Care Reform Needs To Be Changed

Health care reform will force private citizens into a contract with a private company, something no law has done in the past and is in fact quite unconstitutional. The bill will also provide lower care and clogged medical rooms. More importantly, people will have to pay a fine if they do not have coverage that the government finds adequate. In a move that pleased even fewer people, the Obama administration has decided to give this power to the Internal Revenue service. All of these problems, plus relying on medicare fraud savings to pay for the program simply do not work. Ironically, congress would have set up a better system if they had modeled the bill after the health care systems of Great Britain or Canada.

 

What Needs To Go In Health Care Reform

The whole bill should be scrapped rather than trying to fix it. Congress needs to go back to the drawing board and take a look at the issues that are causing costs to rise. Many of these issues are the same issues that are causing college costs to rise. The actual cost is hidden from the end consumer and the colleges and doctors know that the insurance companies will pay a higher rate than an individual would.
