Unemployment: Why High Unemployment Is Good For The Republican Agenda

Mid-term elections are coming up in November, and the pressure is on for both the Democrats and Republicans. Each have different points to be made, debates and town hall meetings will likely be the main mediums to get their messages out. The Democratic messages will surely be the successes in the economic recovery, the ditch the Republicans created for us to get out of, but the Republicans will be concentrating on the failures of the Democrats to create jobs, and help the American people at one of the roughest times this nation has faced.

Obstructionism Is The Republican High Point

Every time that a Republican speaks about the jobs that the Democratic controlled congress failed to create, they may not realize it, but they are the ones that put the economic recovery at risk. One House Rep. claims that the Senate is doing very little except changing post office names, the filibuster procedure has insured that Democratic written legislation that could possibly create jobs, social services, or unemployment assistance, has been shot down, delayed, or filibustered to the point of hopelessness, in an effort to keep the Democrats from making progress in the recovery efforts.

They’re Not Always Wrong

While the obstructionism is often misplaced there are a few rare examples where their filibuster process would have been a benefit. The health care reform, for examople. The Democrats pushed this through in a hurry, only to find that many of the states are rejecting the law. Missouri has voted to ignore a portion of it, by a 70% vote, and others states are considering doing the same. There are Republicans that are attempting to repeal either part or all of the law now. And while the Republican obstructionism is a serious threat to their mid-term elections, the Democrats are finding problems with ethics within their party…but could this be a part of the Republican agenda, too? Accuse as many Democrats as possible, but they need to remember that this is a two way street.
