Unemployment Extension: Tier V Needed–Legislators Deaf To Statistics

But a report released after he signed the bill shows that he should have called for legislators to start work on additional tiers and the COBRA subsidy, if he had known of the dire statement the report made, he may have made that call.
Over 55–Plan On Retirement
The report shows that if a person is older than 55 they stand little chance to get a job, Robert Reich, Secretary of Labor under Clinton, said “Extended unemployment benefits [are] helpful, but hardly the booster rocket that’s needed to get out of the gravitational pull of this terrible economy…If [an American is] over age 55 and unemployed, it’s unlikely they’ll ever be back in the workforce. Most families that depended on two wage earners will have to substantially tighten their belts for a long time. More young people will be living with their parents, and more families will be doubling up.”
Unemployment Rate High Until 2015
In the report, the speed that the unemployment rate is going to be reduced will be painfully slow. Remaining over the 9% mark until 2011 and only coming under the 6% pre-recession level sometime in 2015. Even with the bleak outlook in the report, Bernanke said that another recession wasn’t likely. In response to the report the President did order that several job creating bills be worked on. This still won’t ease the burden that the politicians will face in November, when the mid-term elections–and extensions run out.

This is very discouraging. I am sure that is why suicide has gone up 75%, 55 year old are now being treated like they are fossils, what happened to 50 the new 30, since that is out then maybe let the over 50 crowd draw their social security since employers in America think their unemployable. Unbelievable

? Sounds like you have a job. Hope you dont get laid off, and find yourself at the mercy of the government. Us 99er’s would much rather work, than collect unemployment, but when you find yourself unemployable at 47 because the employers think you are too old, and over qualified, what does an American do? You think unemployment checks are enough to live on? Get your self righteous heap out of the sand. When the people are down and out, the same people who had worked their whole life, and through no fault of their own, have found themselves unemployable, it is the governments responsibility to take care of them. Period, Amen!

I would like to reiterate a comment I made a couple of days ago. How could the President not know something as obvious as the need for a Tier 5 and Cobra. When he signs a bill you’re telling me he knows nothing about the repercussions of the bills he signs.
Here’s the letter I sent to our esteemed President again:
How can you congratulate each other for the approval of a half completed bill forgetting the 99ers and the Tier 5 unemployment extension? As far as I’m concerned your approval rating is 0%. We definitely want the Republicans out. Your weak lack of leadership during this unemployment situation and the spineless Democrats not requesting help for a Tier 5 and the 99ers is unforgivable. What I have noticed is when a problem has been resolved then and only then do you stand a take credit. Remember those extensions you signed only last until November and you know sufficient jobs will not appear by then. By then there will be more people reaching 99 weeks then ever. How stupid do you think we are? I don’t know what Americans you’re patting yourselves on the back for helping but we were not just thrown in front of the bus but mowed-ed down and left for dead. You need you to stand up now. Not after someone else resolves the problem and you once again take credit. It’s a time for change all right! Change all of you right out of office!
If I know this and you know this why wouldn’t the President know. Doesn’t he have unemployed cousins, uncles, aunts or other family members affected by this crisis, or is the President not allowing visits or phone calls from unemployed family members.

We 99′rs have been left out in the cold. I’m 57 and I live in Las Vegas. When you drive around in this town many business’s have closed. There’s a lot of vacant commercial property, It’s eerie! I have been applying forever with no calls back. Employers are overloaded in reumes. Then we have this stupid Sharron Angle telling us there’s jobs out there. I sure hope she doesn’t get voted in. She’s brain dead. This is not the America my father and mother fought for. We are turning into a 3rd world country. I’ve used up my retirement and I guess I’ll soon be on the street. When I went to Job-Connect she told me I should re-locate. I don’t have money for that.
Just got back from vegas. looked like it was getting busy to me. Tao was packed.
What about the young people? My son’s are white males, healthy and struggling to get jobs. They could not afford to go do college as I couldn’t afford to pay for it and there isn’t any help average people. What do they do? I feel for the older as well but there are a lot of people hurting right now. Suicide in young people right now is the highest its ever been.

Dash, what is your problem? I have been working for 17 years and was laid off (Corrections) when the facility closed and transfered the inmates to anothr facility. I have put in my time, and I am 52. Just what is it that ticks you off to make these off the wall comments towards people? I have ONLY clooected 6 months, and was stopped, so your telling me that I didn’t put in my money when the govmnt was taking out my taxes? where is all the money I put in?
Ue is a necessary program, its available and needed, just not a lifetime of it though. 2 years is enough, more than enough, but that was the system we were stuck with. But I’m glad to see it end.

Those are myths. Following these little dramas is my business, and I enjoy it. I know you are clones, but occasionally there is an irrationalc comment and it keeps me motivated.
Dash, what do you do for a living? Seems to me you might be posting on work time. Better be careful or you might end up like the rest of us. Then you will understand where there 99ers are coming from. I am not beneath working at minimun wage and have been applying everywhere. There are not enough jobs for all who are applying. So what exactly do you think we all should do? Yes a few years back a month or two was more than enough to get some sort of job but now it is a different situation and a different time. I have done job fairs, temp staffing, online resumes, face to face applications and networking with no prevail. People really need to understad what is really going on out there.

Asking other people what to do or waiting for other people to answer your questions when they don’t want to is probably part of your problems. You are right we are in a new normal, and true some will never be back working. Its a dog eat dog world out there and this was a “cutting the herd” moment. History has proven the republicans are not concerned about the government budget when it benefits siphoning wealth to their buddies, supporters , constituents , secret societies and business partners. In truth they oppose further unemployment extensions because they foresee less money they can continue to siphon away to themselves to maintain and gain more wealth.
The flaw of all their greed and intelligence is summed up into this upcoming pitfall, Money taken out of the hands of middle class citizens who spend the money to support the economy daily will eventually catch up to them.
Yes unemployment only pays for essentials but overall it still has an effect of keeping dollars circulating in the economy. These dollars eventually cycle themselves up the ladder to the wealthy . Not extending unemployment tier 5 until the economy gets better will eventually effect republicans in the place they cant live without: POFITS IN THEIR POCKETS .

It sure has to be politics because I believe that once unemployment is received it is spent. For every $1.00 spent the return is something like $1.60 to $1.90 to the economy, which helps create jobs. Amazing how this info is not published that much.
Dash comes across as a troll. Obviously he can’t do the math either. 14.6+ million unemployed, 2.5 million helped with bill, 4 million 99ers, millions more uncounted–and ONE job for every 5 people. (I find this last statisic to be unrealistic, as here in Gulf Coast region, ONE part time minimum wage job generates 200 applicants on the spot. That looks a whole lot more like ‘One job for every 200 people. Recently, three openings in a local restaurant had 500 people show up over the course of 2 days.) If you’re currently unemployed your chances are even further diminished. Factor in age descrimination as well, etc and you have a recipe for disaster) When it is a miracle to get a SINGLE INTERVIEW–within 6 months, it is not as though you can just run out and get 4 or 5 minimum wage jobs to keep your head above water, when you are working within a time frame before mortgage or rent is due, bills need to be paid, children are hungry, etc. We’re willing to do whatever job is available. But, let’s face it..if all you’ve gotten was ONE minimum wage job–You’re ‘underemployed’ and you’re still on your way to homelessness. I’m sure being homeless doesn’t help in securing a job either. People still need assistance to keep their job-hunting resources while trying to secure employment. I really don’t understand the mindset of some of these people. Do you really think your ‘grandparents’ would be satisfied in trying to live on unemployment benefits KNOWING that those benefits had an expiration date? Or would they be desperate to do ANYthing to get job.. or 5 jobs..regardless of their experience or the wages. If the jobs are there..they are being filled. That’s a fact. The unemployment crisis does not differentiate and distinguish between classes, educational or socioeconomical backgrounds.

I am a 99′er, and I’ve been cut off as of June 29th. BY THE SHEER GRACE OF GOD, I found a position (20 dollars more a week than I was recieving on unemployment) a week & a day after I recieved my last check. In Washngton State, anyone who is receiving UE benefits MUST provide PROOF of jobs searches each week. At the the end of my benefits I was required to provide information for a minimum 4 employers that I contacted each week. Phone numbers, addresses, email addresses….at the time that I claimed each week. DUMBASS. People aren’t allowed to just LANGUISH on these benefits. Even if someone recieves the maximum benefits, which is 2000.00$ per mo. in Wa., it’s not even CLOSE to what they’re accustomed to making. I’m working for 65% of what I’m used to. But, THANK GOD FOR THAT. Our Govt. is full of SHIT, and I have NO faith in it. As terrible as it is for me to say, I hope your dumbass ends up in the unemployment line, with NO extensions available to your selfish ass.

I am holding out hope that ALL of you out there will find some sort of employment to keep you afloat. I am blessed in that I have a home that was purchased by my Grandparents in 1962 (for 13,600.00$, and paid off with an inheritance,) that has never had a mortgage attatched to it. I would certainly be up Sh@t Creek if my living situation were different. DON’T lose hope. God Bless You ALL.

Keep reporting your unemployed status as long as you are looking for work – or you won’t be counted in the growing numbers of people that can not find work. Don’t let the official unemployment rates decline until the country solves the unemployment problem.
Although it is natural to feel depressed and victimized, get empowered, get angry and stop defending yourself. These are faceless keystrokes from people either afraid what you say it is true or intentionally perpetuating the problem. Don’t waste your energy. As Dash said “Following these little dramas is my business, and I enjoy it.” Imagine what kind of person would enjoy human suffering. Imagine what kind of job requires contributing to suffering. Direct your energy to those that actually matter – government officials, media, prospective employers but most importantly, yourself.
Legislative favors and unregulated monopolies created this injustice. Many people who still have jobs are working excessive hours for diminished pay so corporate executives can deliver record profits by eroding quality employment opportunities that made the US a world leader. It is the “profit before people” mentality that resulted in massive unemployment.
Elite interests thrive on the masses tearing itself down, dividing itself and redirecting attention. Don’t let them have their way with you.
There is help. It will not come from your government, however. If any and all unemployed employed or what ever the state…if you are able…do your best to Not Support the System. Boycott any and all elections, Stop Supporting the System which has literally enslaved us all. There is no work which will sustain you. Automation is here and we are not taking advantage as we should, why? because there is no profit in being efficient. We have the necessary resources and automated processes with which to construct a society to allow every man woman and child the opportunity to live in the highest standard of living. Your friendly corporatocracy I sadly say desires you continue consuming the junk and crap YOU DO NOT NEED, but the trash dump requires. That we may consume makes us Americans, not one thing else.
