Unemployment Extension Recipients Spoiled According To Angle

By Janet Peterson on July 6, 2010, 5:55 am Posted in Finance News

Nevada holds one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, so one has to wonder why a candidate running for a Congressional seat there would make any kind of derogatory remarks concerning the unemployment situation or the extension of the benefits many are trying to get. Sharron Angle, Senator Reids’ competition for his seat has done just that. Her philosophy for creating jobs for the masses is to end the unemployment extension.

She Said Spoiled

When asked about the bill to extend the unemployment benefits she said that she would have voted no to it. She claims “We’ve put in so much entitlement into our government that we really have spoiled our citizenry.” She explains that the jobs available don’t pay as much as the unemployment benefits so many won’t look for, or accept any job that doesn’t pay more than the benefits.

Ms. Angles’ take on the whole unemployment situation is that there are plenty of jobs out there, even in light of what the Labor Dept. has said in the past about 1 job for every 5 jobless person. She says that reducing and paying only partial amounts to the jobless will motivate them to find and accept any job, no matter the pay.

Her Apology Was Sincere

While the sincerity of the apology isn’t in question, her continued philosophy is. Her assertion that there are jobs available to the citizenry demonstrates a clear disconnection with the present state of affairs in this country. In her apology she said “Sharron Angle understands the frustration that the unemployed are going through. They want jobs and the dignity and security that will come from having a job.” She has also made the very damaging statement that “As your U.S. Senator, I’m not in the business of creating jobs.” Ms. Angle, then what exactly do you do for the people in times like these.

nomas–yaknow, I’ve read some of the stuff you’ve been spewin’, negative non-constructive crticism toward those who were happy consumers not too long ago, and I think, “Either he’s some sort of millionare (silver spoon in mouth) or not too bright because most who have any inkling of our economy and the world’s for that matter, know the American consumer is the engine that powers it”. It don’t matter how much you got, how good of a job you have, you’re at risk if the US economy tanks. So I just wonder what (if any) job you are holding to stand on the sidelines and jeer at those whom you seem to think would rather draw say, a tenth (300 a week) of what they were making?

I’m juggling a lot of sites today…got to keep the anti freeloader message out there while there is some downtime on capitol hill. I think the writing is on the wall though, don’t you agree?

The ue check does not keep the economy going and is not stimulative except for the one collecting it,

You are using the ue excuse number 4 — You probably know more about them than I do though.

Flying the flag upside down has subjected some people to arrest. I’m in an area that takes things like that seriously and I don’t have the money to bail myself out of jail – which is why I said stick to legal and non-leathal things.

jeal10 and others – The general message I’m getting from No Mas is that he wants attention and will work very hard to push other people’s buttons to get a rise out of them if they ignore him in general. He is reduced to petty, name calling and the use of ad hominem attacks to keep people paying attention to him. I’d like to make a difference on this list and the way I see it, the best way to do that is to ignore No Mas until he can contribute to a discussion in a mature and respectful manner.

There are three ways to motivate a child to behave, reward good behavior, punish bad behavior and withdraw attention. Even telling him he is misbehaving gives him attention. I encourage everyone to ignore his posts and give him the same respect, and/or pity one would give a person with Tourette’s Syndrome.

Talk about name calling. That little rant is your protest? Puhleeze. These people won’t have the self control to not respond, and it won’t take long for you to see this. Somebody disagrees with your view and he’s all wrong? Last I looked the good guys (able bodied and working) were winning since june 2nd.

  7. Broke and Almost Homeless says:

Dear Sharron Angle, If you think there is jobs out there and people are just not trying due to the fact that they pay less, why don’t you try? Most places will tell you “overqualified” because they don’t want to hire a individual that they consider a risk to leave one things get better. I know for a fact, I tried many low wage jobs and when they see my resume they say wow, you did this, or you have that degree, or in a recent interview, I was told that “I see you have a CDL License and we don’t require that for our job. Sounds like overqualified again huh? So before you talk about how people are spoiled either learn all the facts or DROP DEAD!! You rotten stuck up, silver spoon in my butt rich piece of sh-t.

to “Not Really…”, you are very correct. A letter however doesn’t give us a face. Heck, half my own mail goes straight to the bin. One person with flag upside down on a block is a freak. Half the block is a problem.

  9. jeal10 says:

actually not really, the supreme court deemed it a constitutional right in 1974 in Spence vs. Washington

    Hey no mas
I see how you have a job now, you barely speak english. plus I never gay bashed, just pointing out that you have a talent I do not possess.

Funny coming from someone that never held a real job.

“Of course, the fate and merit of Social Security are merely academic to Angle. Win or lose her Senate race, her golden years are secured in large part thanks to the retirement benefits collected by her husband, Ted, who spent 37 years working for the Bureau of Land Management within the United States Department of the Interior.

When her husband was making most of the family money while she mostly stayed home (“the acceptable and right thing to do”), surely Angle must have determined that the Interior Department and the BLM are constitutional. A self-described constitutional “soldier,” surely Angle would not have allowed her family to be supported primarily by a government entity created in direct violation of both the United States Constitution and — a no less impressive arbiter of truth, justice and the American way — Sharron Angle’s uncompromising and stalwart personal principles.”

Not a smart move on her part considering Nevada has a 14% unemployment rate.

Just shows how out of touch some of our holier than thou politicians are. She should join forces with ole Rob blogo and start a new party. They could call themselves the Moronicans.

***For ALL of those people that say, “If we continue to extend their Unemployment benefits, they won’t look for a job!”***

I am extremely disappointed that there are NO jobs out there (in my field)! When I WAS able to collect Unemployment benefits, it was at a rate MUCH less than half of my former wages! Add to that the fact that I am now 54 years old and NO ONE wants to hire older people – especially those that were earning a fair wage for fair day’s work at a payrate that took them many years to deservedly earn – WE just can’t win out here!! Now I am facing the fact that I am about to lose EVERYTHING (THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN) I worked so hard ALL my life to EARN!!

Personally, I fail to see why the Republican party members keep insisting they have NO way to pay for this Tier 5 extension that all us jobless Americans so desperately need! RESPONSIBLE lawmakers would introduce legislation to force the corporations – that’s right – the ones we “bailed-out” (and that created this mess in the first place) such as Lehman Bros., AIG, Goldman Sachs, etc. to pay us back EVERY dime of that “Bail-out” money. They could then start with directing that funding to pay for our Unemployment benefits – for the next decade!!

OK KIDS – IT’S QUIZTIME- HANDS UP!

How many of you know just exactly HOW MUCH “Bail-out money” was handed out (by Congress – and on a silver platter – I might add!) since late 2008 and WHERE DID that money come from?
THE ANSWER – A TOTAL OF 1.8 TRILLION DOLLARS (to date) and it ALL went – THAT’S RIGHT…AGAINST THE NATIONAL DEFICIT!!
And NOW the Republicans have the unabashed gall to refuse to add a few million dollars to that same National deficit to “bailout-out” the very people that have taken ALL of this abuse up the __s? Who the f__k do they think they are fooling here?

And another thing that really riles me – Why is it that the Republican party’s main focus is ALWAYS all about complaining and spreading around all of this dissent and disinformation (meanwhile – behind our backs – during the Bush years – they were busy running up the deficit by a cool 8 TRILLION DOLLARS!)? Why can’t they simply get smart by diffusing and shifting all that negative energy so they can utilize it to concentrate on helping their “fellow Americans”? Because THEY are owned (bought AND paid for) by Wall Street and Corporate America – THAT’S WHY!

What “we the people” MUST do is band together and get right back in these idiots’ faces by keeping them on the hot seat until we can boot them out of office!! Maybe(?) if we are real good at it – they’ll think twice about who they are supposed to be serving here and whether or not they want to run for office again! “We the people” MUST keep the pressure up if we expect justice in this socialistic country we now are trying to survive in!
“WE THE PEOPLE” MUST TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!!

    LET’S “GIT ‘ER DONE!!”
