Tier V Unemployment: Will More Stimulus Measures Help The Economy
By William Finch on September 4, 2010, 9:23 am Posted in Finance NewsMore Stimulus is on the way. Aid to smaller banks and employers in the way of tax relief is already being discussed. The Democrats have to be seen doing something before election day, though the hour is late. The words stimulus and bailout have moved high up the ladder in the American lexicon.
Stimulus Ideas
The Stimulus measures are two-fold. They certainly are directed at the unions and firm Obama supporters. This can be seen by the road projects underway. In addition, the Stimulus measures are directed at municipal unions for the same ulterior motives. At least these people might vote Democratic come election day.
Novel Stimulus Ideas
Nothing should be assumed to be impossible in order to get this economy rolling to some extant by November. These would have to be strong measures in order to take effect by November and certainly by 2012.
Attacking Iran, even though it is too late to destroy their nuclear capability is on the table, a la Bush and Iraq. This would definitely stimulate companies that manufacture and supply the defense industry. The people would become patriotic and many would get back to work. The longer the confrontation lasts, the longer the employment.
An extension of unemployment benefits, like in Europe would calm the people down. It is definitely a Stimulus when money must be spent on food and rent. This money would quickly enter the economy and give it a shot in the arm. The problem here is that it is primarily a transfer payment and no new products are developed. This means when it is withdrawn the problem arises again.
A good Stimulus that has been mentioned recently is a tax holiday on income taxes. The same measure is spoken of in terms of small business. Less taxes is always good for spending. If the government runs a shortfall in tax receipts, then just borrow from the Chinese.

I usually dont post replies but this comment was so stupid I had to say something.
1) There is no evidence that Iran has a nuclear weapons program. None. No matter how many insinuations are made there has been nothing to show that the program is not for peaceful purposes…plus, it would take years to enrich uranium at the level of weapons.
2) More importantly, war which is the murder of civilians for political means should never be used to justify helping the economy. Was the 100,000 dead Iraqis worth the extra money for halliburton, boeing and GE? What about the dead 4,000 american soldiers?
3) Attacking Iran would not make anyone more patriotic but would make people even more anti government. Americans are learning that their goverment is run by corporations and aided by petty media hacks like you.
4) Wasting billions of dollars more on high tech gadgets from corpoations would be horrible for the economy. Use that money on government jobs for people to clean up america and build domestic green technology and you might help the economy….but that wouldnt be in line with your pitch of making america impoverished while you help CEOS get higher profits.
