Silencing Healthcare Critics: Congress Reels In Big Business To Talk
By Jeffrey Paulsen on April 4, 2010, 10:33 am Posted in Finance NewsCongress has reeled in big business to talk, but many Americans are skeptical about this. Big business has never been on the side of consumers. They are all about their bottom lines and have paid billions of dollars to help defeat health care reform legislation. This step by Congress is to help silence health care critics who say that health care reform cannot be beneficial to both businesses and consumers.
Greed Always Wins In The Eyes Of CEO’s
Many Americans do not like CEO’s because of their excessive compensation, disregard for consumer needs, and the fact that they are out of touch with the middle and lower classes. In order for Congress to get the American public to change their minds about health care reform they need to get big business leaders to go before Congress. Since these leaders will be talking about health care reform, the public can have a better understanding of how the new health care legislation will impact everyone.
Democrats In Congress Need To Save Their Seats In 2010 Elections
Democrats in Congress are racing to save their seats because the 2010 elections are in November which is less than seven months away now. By bringing big business leaders in and having hearings and listening to what these leaders have to say, this helps public opinion. Democrats need to be seen as the party of the people. The Republicans are the party of the no so many voters are exhausted and want to see Congress doing the people’s work and helping Americans who are struggling financially. If the democrats can turn public opinion around then they may be able to lose a few less seats which will help them when further Health Care Reform issues come up. The media coverage will determine if this was a good or bad idea for Congress to undertake.
