How Much Longer To Get The Unemployment Extension Checks

The rules are generally the same as they are for other unemployment claims with one key difference. A person can file the claims retroactively if he ran out of benefits before congress passed the Tier 5 extension. Unlike the previous extension, a former employee cannot continue his health insurance program through the COBRA Subsidy. Waiting for checks may be difficult for a home owner of a head of household who has bills that he or she must pay.
Do People Trust The Economic Recovery
The extension can take one or two weeks to process, although the claims must be filed by November of this year. If the unemployment office accepts a person’s claims, he can continue drawing benefit up to the 99 week mark. He still must serve the waiting week after his claim is accepted. The volume of claims that these offices currently receive is causing the process to take longer than it usually does. In part, this is because the economic recovery that the Obama administration is trying to convince the American public is occurring. The average American has not seen any signs of improvement.
What Can I Do In The Meantime
Waiting for unemployment checks to come does little good when a person has bills that are due now. In the meantime, individuals still must eat and incur other expenses that are required to maintain their daily existence. Community relief organizations are finding their resources stretched to their limits because of the continuing recession, but they will do their best to aid people in need, if they can provide proof of their bills. Utility agencies may wait for a payment or if the person still has some funds work with the limited resources until the new checks come through.

Thats awesome Bonnie!! I feel sooo much better now! Did she tell you the same thing, that she was doing a reopen on your case and it would take 24 hours and tomorrow morning she could go in and claim your weeks for you? I wonder how long it will take me to get my money in my bank account if she claims them tomorrow. She did say that their are people processing payments and posting them till 6 at night. If mine pays out tomorrow evening do you think its possible that the money hit my account saturday morning or do banks not post payments on saturdays? I am with Bank of America. If Anyone knows let me know!

Hello everyone I too called the 18778468770 number and got through to Lucy who is ext-1124 she will also help you as well she reopened my file and told me i will be able to claim in the morning for my money this is good news hopefully i will get check by tuesday. Hope everyone has the same good results as me.
florida unempl. weeks ago i called office, was told to wait for letter, no letter came called aug.11 today was told to go to enempl. website. and file a claim for extended bene. i was able to claim 8 weeks, back to june 17th. my advice, stop waiting for letter, file for extension now…………..don’t know when i will get checks but i got piece of mind, i was able to claim……………
Does anyone know if bank of America will post direct deposit payments saturday morning or do they make you wait until monday?

Tracy- remember I had had a man said he certified my weeks. Well, the lady today told me that the weeks had not been certified the correctly, but that she was able to certify my past weeks of June though July 31st, and that I should get a payment in 2-3 business days.
She also said that on this coming Monday, August 15th I’ll be able to certify my august weeks and that it will be all up to date then.

She reopened my claim and updated it for me yesterday she told me I would see a balance today.I checked my account and there is money this morning

And Cy from Reno cannot call Cassandra because she is with Florida unemployment. He is is NV. Don’t wait for a letter, just keep calling your Customer service until you get ahold of someone.
Just spoke to Cassandra and she told me she did certify all of my weeks for me this morning, 8 of them that I am owed.
I hope I will have the money in my bank on Saturday rather than have to wait till Monday or Tues. Either way I know it’s coming so I am happy. I hope everyone else is having great progress now too!!!! Cassandra is the most helpful person EVER!!!! You couldn’t ask to speak to a nicer person. I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body!
Called her and she claimed me weeks this morning
WOOT WOOT!!!!! Just called the automated system and checked and sure enough it says that the weeks that were claimed today had a check issued for the full 8 weeks today!!!!
I did’nt get all of my weeks only 3 of them
thats wierd. It says that a check was issued to me today for 8 weeks which is what I am owed.
August 17th is my reg day to claim.Maybe I will get to claim on that day

It says my next day to claim is August 23rd since they issued my retro pay of 8 weeks to me up to date. That is when I would normally claim if I had never had a lapse since June 14th
Its good to see everyone having success with calling the unemployment directly. Lucy did a good job for me I got 5 weeks coming to me so good finally see some income that’s guaranteed. did anyone else recieve their money in their bank account this morning that had their payment issued yesterday by AWI? unemployment told me yesterday that they submitted my money to the bank at 4 yesterday and my banks cut off time is 5 so they should have gotten it by then, and I never got anything in my account this morning. I hope it will be their tomorrow. Bonnie, if you get this, did you get your money today?

I spoke with someone at unemployment and he said after they submit the payments to the bank it takes 24-48 hours to be released to us, so he said hopefully we will have something by later this afternoon or tomorrrow morning. I have never heard of anything posting in the afternoon so I am sure it will be in the morning if anything. I will keep you posted as to when I recieve something and you do the same.
Anyone who is getting there check by mail in FLORIDA have you gotten yours yet. It says check was sent out yesterday so I should get on sat or mon or tuesday.

Cassandra did claim 6weeks for me!!!!I will get two seperate payment for 3weeks.
i i was able certify for 5 weeks online aug 10 since being
cut off but just got paid only for 2 weeks.

I didn’t have that problem of my retro pay getting split up. They processed all 8 of my weeks and it said yesterday that I was issued a check for all 8 weeks. I hope to see it in my bank tomorrow morning!!!

Bonnie I spoke with my bank just now, who had been telling me there is no pending deposits for today to post tomorrow. Finally spoke to someone else and the reason it showed nothing to post today/tonight is because unemployment sent them the funds to be distributed on August 16th (monday) which in AWI’s eyes that is 2 business days from the time the checks are issued. But the bank said that it will post tomorrow morning because their monday is tonight after midnight when all the processing is done. He told me he was positive the funds would be available in my account tomorrow morning by 6am. I am with bank of America so I hope this helps you. If you want to call your bank ask them to check to see the information of a deposit that is scheduled to be distributed on monday by AWI and see if their system is the same as far as their monday being tomorrow morning.
So if we received notification on thursday from AWI that our benefits were processed then it should be in our bank acct saturday instead of monday even though its dated for monday? That would be great! Hope it happens!
