Credit card and other unsecured debt can pile up so quickly that even making the minimum payments each month can become a struggle. But did you know that only making the minimum payments will cost thousands of dollars in interest and make it nearly impossible to get out of debt? Creditors are very privy to this information and have debtors in a hole that will steadily deepen if only the minimum payments are made every month. This can easily lead to a financial catastrophe if new debt is being acquired while the debtor is already searching under couch cushions for loose change just to pay their current minimum payments.

So Is Debt Consolidation The Answer To Getting Out of The Minimum Payment Game

In many ways, whether debt consolidation will pull you out of the minimum payment game, is solely up to you. Yes, a good debt consolidation program will provide you with lower payments and a payment plan that is aimed at getting you out of debt and on to financial freedom, but the rest is up to you. It is possible to follow a debt consolation program and get out of debt in a set amount of time or you may pay more than just the minimum payment required and get out of debt even faster. Even just paying a few extra dollars a month, will help to directly pay off your balance and save money on interest and can clip off months, or even years of future payments. Debt consolidation is an answer for those who find themselves struggling with paying their monthly payments and want to begin to work towards regaining control over both their finances and their debt.
