Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals have been better than ever this year. And at least 17% of Americans will shop online on Cyber Monday, Consumer Reports has said. While they only projected 13% of consumers will actually set foot in stores. Coremetrics claims that Black Friday sales went up by 15.9% this year, with 26.7% more preferring to do their shopping from a mobile device.
According to USA Today, 9 out of 10 retailers are participating in the Cyber Monday trend, this is 72% more than participated in 2009. The idea of Cyber Monday is new, too. The term wasn’t coined until the National Retail Federation aptly maned the day five years ago when 77% of online stores claimed that they had seen a jump in their sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Record Numbers, Record Sales, Record risk
To insure you get your online purchase, don’t just place the item in your basket. Go ahead and proceed to the checkout. If you do not follow this rule and your item is in high demand, you may find that when you do get to the checkout the item has sold out while you continued shopping. This is especially true with Amazon.com’s Lightning Deals, and they always have a severely handicapped inventory on these items.
Safety First
In order to save the heartache of losing your hard earned dollars to the inevitable online scam there are a few rules to follow. You should only shop at favorite, and the tried and true. Also friends can be a good indication of the better scam-free sites. Use some of the online deal-finder services, most don’t cost a thing. Plus it’s easier to trust a major web retailer like Dealio.com, RetailMeNot.com, CyberMonday.com, and pricegrabber.com, these guys will lead you to reputable retailers that will give you a hassel-free shopping experience.
