Why The Push For Green Jobs When Climate Change Is In Doubt?
By William Finch on February 22, 2010, 6:16 am Posted in Business NewsThe winter of 2010 has been unkind to advocates of global climate change. Record snows fell in the District of Columbia and the hard science behind dire predictions of planetary warming appears to be melting away faster than the polar ice caps. While real science has always demanded rigorous debate and examination, recent “Climategate” scandals reveal a concerted effort to suppress debate over climate policy. If climate change itself is suspect, what does that mean for the millions of green jobs touted by the Obama administration as an element in the economic recovery?
What Makes A Green Job
In the 2008 Presidential campaign both Barrack Obama and the GOP’s John McCain urged aggressive action against man-made climate change, promising that efforts to curtail greenhouse gas emissions would more than pay for themselves through the creation of new green jobs. Green jobs we were led to believe included public sector employment created by a new layer of regulation, and private sector employment in wind farming, solar energy, waste management, and agriculture. Green jobs paid a living wage with room for advancement we were assured. And tax dollars could be invested in training a new green workforce. With climate change itself suspect, will the electorate tolerate spending public dollars on green jobs programs?
Truly Green Jobs
Through the entire debate over global warming and the greening of labor the real heroes are sometimes overlooked. There’s nothing new about green. For decades coal companies have reclaimed mining sites and sought clean coal technologies freeing the West from Middle Eastern oil. Advances in natural gas exploration offer the possibility of true energy independence utilizing a clean burning fuel. And no industry is greener than logging, where replanting and forest management makes lumber a truly renewable resource.

The interesting lost factoid here is that the president just signed a bill budget that requires a cap and trade tax if we are ever to pay back debt. Interesting how this guy always misses the boat when it come to the fine detail, I don’t think he’s stupid but I do think he’s lazy!
Thanks to the revelations of ClimateGate the rest of the climate science community can now speak without overt and covert government, media and academic censorship. Thanks to these new revelations we now know without doubt Climate Change “science” is a complete fraud. It is as we suspected. Clearly we cannot trust Obama and the Democratic Party to tell the true. There is no integrity there. None. What do think the chances are their pronouncements concerning National Health Care legislation are anywhere near the truth? Pay a tax, change the climate? Pay a tax, get government provided health care? Fraud and more fraud. Like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, it’s just another Ponzi scheme. Bring in more unwilling players to keep the game going.
