New Tax Credits Could Save You On This Years 2010 Taxes April 15th

In an effort to boost the economy there have been many tax breaks offered for the 2009 taxes that are due by April 15, 2010. If you are not aware of all the rebates that are being given you could stand to loose a substantial amount of money. There are tax incentives offered in many different categories this year.

So Not Forget To Count Your New Home, Car or Energy Saving Appliance

Many people are aware that there is a $8000 first time home buyer credit on the taxes this year. What they may not be aware of that there is a $6500 credit for anyone who has lived in a home for an extended period of time but also bought a new home this year. There are several incentives for new car purchases this year and extra incentives for those cars that were hybrids. Many energy star appliances will get you an extra credit this year, especially if you went solar. It is imperative that you claim as many of these credits as possible to decrease the amount of taxes you owe.

 

Do Not Forget About Haiti And The Relief Effort

There has been special amendments made this year for anyone who donated to the Haiti relief effort, even though this was in 2010. If you can show that you made donations to the Haiti relief effort you can claim this on your 2009 taxes. There is a February cut off date to claim it on 2009. Any donations made after February can be claimed next year on their 2010 forms. Also, many other charitable contributions can still be claimed on your taxes this year.
