Debt Consolidation: Can I Still Use My Credit Cards During This Period?

Debt consolidation is a great answer for those for wish to consolidate their bills into one convenient and lower monthly payment. Consolidating debt helps many people each year take control of their financial future and start building towards a future of financial stability. However, the process of debt consolidation raises many questions that can be very confusing and make the task seem almost daunting. One major question that most people need answered is if the use of credit cards during debt consolidation will negatively affect the process.

The answer to that question would be both yes and no. Yes, It is possible that someone may need to use a credit card to pay a bill before payday, and that will not have a negative effect if the charge can be paid off once the paycheck is received. However, it is strongly recommended that no new debts are acquired during debt consolidation. That means that if a charge will not be able to be paid off almost instantly, than it cannot go on the credit card. Failure to abide by this will negatively affect the process and in unfortunate cases, will completely halt the process, which could push a person into financial ruin.

Can Credit Cards Be Used After Debt Consolidation

Credit cards may certainly be used after the debt consolidation process is complete. But it is important to consider that living above their means is exactly how many people landed in the position where debt consolidation was necessary. Hopefully, if the journey to consolidate debt has taught people anything, it is that using credit cards to purchase more than can be afforded is dangerous and should be avoided both during and after debt consolidation.
